Food donations
The Parish of St. Catherine of Siena and St. Agnes accepts food donations to benefit Neighbor to Neighbor from 9 to 11 a.m. Tuesdays in its parking area across from the rectory at 4 Riverside Ave. Items needed include peanut butter and jelly, oatmeal, canned meat, tuna, canned fruit, dried or canned beans, cereal, rice and soup as well as as household cleansers and toiletries. St. Paul’s Episcopal Church at 200 Riverside Ave. also accepts donations from 10 to 11:30 a.m. Thursdays for the food pantry.
Parkinson’s Support Group
Greenwich Hospital’s Parkinson’s Support Group will meet via Zoom from 1:30 to 2:30 pm. Tuesday, July 27. To register, call 888-305-9253 or visit greenwichhospital.org/events. Free. Participants must register for all events at least 24 hours prior in order to receive the Zoom link.
Seaside activities
The Bruce Museum’s Seaside Center at Greenwich Point is open Wednesdays through Sundays. Daily activities include a beach walk with naturalists at 11:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. and activities on the porch from noon to 3 p.m. Visitors are not currently allowed inside the Seaside Center but everyone is invited to stop by the front porch or join the naturalists for a walk on the beach.
Speakers at Retired Men’s group
The Greenwich Retired Men’s Association offers a free speakers program Wednesdays in the Fellowship Hall at the First Presbyterian Church, 1 W. Putnam Ave. It is open to the public. Social time starts at 10:40 a.m., followed by a speaker at 11 a.m. Proof of full vaccination required, along with a mask when entering and leaving the church. The speaker can also be viewed via Zoom. Speakers include: Joseph Polisi, former president of The Juilliard School on “Juilliard — Past, Present and Future” on July 28.
Tavern Garden Market
The Greenwich Historical Society is hosting a Tavern Garden Market on alternating Wednesdays through November. Visit the next markets on July 28 to shop all things “Home” — from food and flowers to specially curated items that enrich life enjoyed with family & friends. Wednesday night concerts
The Department of Parks and Recreation will offer a Wednesday Night Concert Series this summer at Roger Sherman Baldwin Park. All concerts start at 7:15 p.m., and the rain date for each show is the next day. No pets and no grills allowed. Echoes of Sinatra, a Frank Sinatra tribute band, performs on July 28. Weather postponement/cancellation information at 203-861-6100 after 4 p.m.
Weekday Farmers Market
The Old Greenwich Farmers Market is held from 2:30 to 6 p.m. Wednesdays at the Living Hope Community Church at 38 West End Ave. in Old Greenwich.
Free Music Fridays
Free summer concerts will be held from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. Fridays at Greenwich Common Park on Greenwich Avenue. Produced by Greenwich Forward, Re-Imagine Greenwich, and the Town of Greenwich Parks and Recreation, Free Music Fridays will feature different performers every week. The series will run through Sept. 3. The lineup includes Billy and The Shoemen on July 30.
Weekend Farmers Market
The Greenwich Farmers Market runs from 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. every Saturday through Nov. 19 in the Arch Street commuter parking lot. Enjoy fresh Connecticut-grown produce all season. Outdoor movies
Greenwich Communities, formerly known as the Housing Authority of the town of Greenwich, is teaming with Community Centers Inc. to host free outdoor summer movie nights. The entire community is welcome to attend screenings of the family-friendly films, which will begin at 7:30 p.m. Attendees are encouraged to bring lawn chairs or blankets as well as bug spray. Free food will be offered, including hot dogs, popcorn, snow cones, cotton candy and drinks. “Despicable Me” will be shown on Aug. 2 at Armstrong Court. The animated film stars Steve Carell, Julie Andrews and a whole bunch of the beloved little yellow minions. The rain date is Aug. 3. “The Boss Baby,” an animated film starring Alec Baldwin, will be shown on Aug. 9 at Adams Garden. The rain date is Aug. 10.
Music on the Great Lawn
Stop by the Greenwich Historical Society to enjoy Music on the Great Lawn. The grounds open at 5:30 p.m., when concertgoers can also enjoy a picnic.
