Saleeby has a demonstrated track record

To the editor,

In a perfect world, the candidates for town clerk would campaign based on qualifications, not party affiliation. It should not matter whether the person who registers birth certificates, processes permits, and records land transactions has a D or an R after their name on the ballot. What does matter is whether it is easy, pleasant, and efficient to interact with the clerk’s office.

I will be voting for Molly Saleeby for town clerk. Saleeby will modernize procedures and bring Greenwich up to speed using innovations our peer towns have already implemented. She brings a professional background in stellar customer service — she even won an award for customer service during her years working at WNET Channel 13. A dedicated public servant whom I have come to know and respect through our work together on the RTM, she listens to everyone, she is responsive, and she gets things done.

Saleeby is running as a Democrat. Again, the town clerk should not be a political position, but candidates must run for office that way. The Republican Town Committee has put forward a candidate who, in an interview with this paper, noted that her main qualification is that she has used the services of the clerk’s office as a real estate agent.

The choice for Greenwich voters is clear. Saleeby has a demonstrated track record, a commitment to customer-service, and a fresh perspective. Regardless of your party affiliation, I urge you to vote for Molly Saleeby for town clerk.
