Lil Nas X filmed episode of the ‘Maury’ show in Stamford
Montero Lamar Hill also known as Lil Nas X was seen running out of the “Maury” show building in Stamford on Wednesday’s episode.
Pop icon Lil Nas X appeared on a parody episode of the “Maury” show to declare his love for his music video costar Yai Ariza and confront his lover’s wife, Ashley. The fictitious storyline was a continuation of his music video for “That’s What I Want.”
“Montero came to the ‘Maury Show’ and Maury was happy to help Montero tell this story and contribute to the LNX creative vision,” the manager of publicity for ‘Maury,’ Sara Paige, said via email.
In the beginning of the show, host Maury Povich says “this is one of the most scandalous stories they ever had in the ‘Maury’ show” with “scandalous love triangles and scandalous results.”
The “Montero (Call Me by Your Name)” singer tells Ashley he doesn’t think Ariza is the real father of her child. They do a paternity test and a lie-detector test that “reveal” that Ariza is not, in fact, the father of her son. Ariza proposes to Montero on the show, but Povich warns him to listen to the lie detector test results first.
The lie detector test, which is a spoof, later revealed three more things: Ariza wants to leave his wife for Montero; he also wants to be in a committed relationship with Montero; he cheated on Montero and Ashley with more than 10 other people.
The episode ends with Lil Nas X running off stage and into the streets for Stamford before breaking up with Ariza while pushing cameras off him.
Viewers were presented with a disclaimer slide towards the end of the episode that said the Montero segment was a collaboration between Lil Nas X and the “Maury” show “for entertainment purposes.” The “Maury” show did not provide any further information as to how or why the collaboration came about.
