CHSCA to honor 26 coaches
The Connecticut High School Coaches Association (CHSCA) will honor 26 coaches for its Class of 2021 CHSCA Coach of the Year awards on May 5 at the Aqua Turf Club in Southington at 7 p.m.
Those coaching boys sports being acknowledged are as follows: Matthew Alteri, baseball, Hotchkiss, Sheehan; Shaun Gallagher, ice hockey, Ridgefield; John Pinone, basketball, Cromwell; Paul Smith, cross country, Bolton; Joshua Glick, golf, Avon; Dave Emery, soccer, Granby; Trevor Charles, swimming, Middletown; Chris Damone, tennis, Wilton; Nick DiLuggo, indoor track, Derby; Jennifer Price, track, Middletown; Laura Arena, volleyball, Farmington; John Distler, lacrosse, Barlow; and Kevin Callahan, Ridgefield, football.
Those coaching girls sports being acknowledged are as follows: Tina Bouchard, field hockey, Hamden; Colleen Lineburgh, Unified Sports, Waterford; Amanda Forcucci, basketball, Hamden; Brian Hayes, cross country, Immaculate; John Williams, golf, Cheshire; Erin Prescott Reed, soccer, Tolland; Kristen Skuches, swimming, Foran; Richard Willis, tennis, Ellington; Kevin Connell, track, Branford; Lynn Baglini, cheerleading, Lauralton Hall; Dana Cooke, wrestling, Griswold; and Jeff Mederios, lacrosse, Stonington.
Also being honored is Hale-Ray athletic director Marty Ryczek.
The CHSCA is also honoring three people with Special Awards: Derek Miles, the director of operations at Rentschler Field, the Joseph J. Fontana Distinguished Service Award: Charles Claffey of Hall High with the Thomas J. Monahan CHSCA Service Award: and Bruce Rock of the Balfour Company with the Joseph Calvanese Award.
