GAMES TO WATCH

Tolland at Wethersfield, Thursday, 3:45 p.m.: They come into the week the only unbeaten teams within the CCC South. They’ve both done all right against others, too, solidly over .500.

New Milford at Weston, Thursday, 6 p.m.: New Milford has won seven in a row since its only SWC loss, 10-6 to Barlow on April 14. Barlow’s only league loss is to Weston. Weston is unbeaten in the league.

New Canaan at Staples, Saturday, 3 p.m.: In addition to a late-season top-10 FCIAC battle, the afternoon will also feature Staples’ Hall of Fame inductions: Bill Rexford ‘86, Ryan Kubie ‘96, former coach Paul McNulty ‘64, and his 2010 team that was unbeaten in the regular season and finished 18-2.

McMahon at Norwalk, Saturday, 6 p.m.: The city championship may also determine whether Norwalk (6-7, with New Canaan and Ridgefield also remaining) makes the Class L tournament.

Greenwich at Wilton, Saturday, 7 p.m.: Yet another late season top-10 FCIAC battle, with No. 3 in the poll hosting No. 8.

Law at Lyman Hall, Monday, 5:30 p.m.: Including Wednesday’s game against Guilford, Law needs to go at least 3-2 in its last five games to make the Class M playoffs. Lyman Hall needs one of its last three. This could be a playoff game.

Pomperaug at New Milford, Monday, 7 p.m.: The Panthers have won four in a row, the last of those against neighbor Newtown and possibly dealing the Nighthawks’ 15-year state-tournament streak a crippling blow. New Milford is a step up on paper; see how it goes on the field.

South Windsor at Farmington, Tuesday, 6 p.m.: They come into the week the only unbeaten teams within the CCC North. (We’d complete the set, but the two unbeaten CCC Central teams, Simsbury and Glastonbury, don’t meet until May 20.)

Valley Regional at North Branford, Tuesday, 6 p.m.: Another conceivable playoff game, this one in Class S, though the host Thunderbirds (6-7) can take care of their half the day before against Morgan. At 5-9, Valley’s margin for error in the last two games is gone. (While we’re at it... ah, save next week for next week.)
