- By Karen Tensa

Two Greenwich artists were among the award winners in “BIG & small,” the latest exhibit at the Rowayton Arts Center in Norwalk.

The show, an all-media exhibition, features the work of RAC exhibiting members. All of the works are either big — from 40 to 60 inches — or as small as 12 inches or less.

The show is on view through July 24. RAC gallery hours are noon to 5 p.m. Tuesdays through Fridays and 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. weekends. The gallery and art school overlook the scenic Five Mile River at 145 Rowayton Ave.

Best in Show went to Lisa Thoren of Darien for her painting titled “Above and Beyond.”

Other awards went to Jean Bowler of Fairfield, first place, for “Waves Kiss the Shore” (painting); Joyce Andersen of Wilton, second place for “Simple Grandeur” (photography); Christina Tugeau of Fairfield, third place for “Under the Apple Tree” (painting).

Honorable Mentions went to Lynne Arovas of Greenwich for “Energy in Order” (mixed media); Michael Brennecke of Westport for “Sis Boom Bah” (painting); Kyle Hicks Healy of Stamford for “Blue Skies” (painting); Peter Kinseley of Norwalk for “Big and Small” (painting); and Jay Wilson of Cos Cob for “Burn out Bright” (photography).

The chair for the show is Meg Tweedy and the co-chair is Laura Thoren.

Winners were announced by the judge, Eric Jiaju Lee, a visual artist, an educator and associate director of the Sorokin Gallery in Greenwich.

For more than 60 years, RAC has celebrated the study, creation and appreciation of the arts through classes, exhibitions and events open to all in the community. Visit rowaytonarts.org for more information.
