Darien cops: String of Nov. 9 car burglaries ‘most likely related’

DARIEN — Six vehicles were reported burglarize­d in the span of five and a half hours on Nov. 9, according to local police.

Police records show the burglaries occurred in pairs on the same streets, mostly at night and early morning.

Police said the first break-in was reported around 4:11 a.m. Two suspects were recorded by a Ring camera entering two unlocked vehicles at an address in the 40 block of Noroton Avenue, according to police.

Roughly 25 minutes later, around 4:34 a.m., another unlocked vehicle at an address in the 60 block of Noroton Avenue was reported to have been entered, police said.

Nothing was reported missing from either car, according to police.

Police said the next two breakins were reported in the 10 block of Beach Drive at 4:31 a.m. and 4:53 a.m. Two more unlocked vehicles within a few doors of each other had been entered, police said.

The Beach Drive incidents were

followed by break-ins in the 10 block of Outlook Drive reported at 7:41 a.m. and 9:20 a.m., according to police.

The first victim told a responding officer he noticed the contents of his unlocked vehicle had been rifled through when he went out to the car around 7 a.m., according to police. He said $700 in cash had been stolen and several fraudulent purchases had been made on his

credit card, police said.

The second victim or victims reported two unlocked vehicles had been entered but nothing was missing, according to police.

Sgt. Dan Skoumbros, public informatio­n officer for the Darien Police Department, said police believe the burglaries are “most likely related.”
