Greenwich’s poll workers are being celebrated March 2 with a ceremony at Central Middle School.

The appreciation day is being done in conjunction with a screening of the new documentary “No Time To Fail,” which is about election workers during the 2020 election. There will be food at 6 p.m. and then the film will be screened at 7:30 p.m.

Registrars of Voters Fred DeCaro and Mary Hegarty put the event together as a way to say ‘thank you’ after all the work that was put into last year’s election, including a recount in the 36th District State Senate race.

The Ashforth Children’s Concert Series will return to the Greenwich Library this spring with the popular Storytime Quartet retelling of well-known children’s tales alongside classical music. “Stories of Royalty” will be presented at the Greenwich Library’s Berkley Theater at 11 a.m. March 4.

The Storytime Quartet narrated concerts blend children’s fairy tales with classical string quartet music. Three folktales are presented in conjunction with the music of famous classical composers to create a storytelling experience for children and their families. During each program, the performers engage with members of the audience, inviting them to ask questions and recognize thematic materials and story plots. The presentation includes colorful, large-screen illustrations for each story, and the string quartet’s instruments are explored and discussed in a Q&A segment.

The performance is intended for children in grades K-3. It will run for 55 minutes. Registration through the library’s online calendar is required.

The concert is free and open to the public through the support of Georgie and Henry A. Ashforth.

In partnership with the Town of Greenwich, the Greenwich YMCA has launched a new membership tier called Better Together, which offers a lowered membership rate for all Town of Greenwich employees.

“The YMCA is committed to building a strong community by helping people reach their potential. This program is a small way to acknowledge and thank all those whose public service supports the common good of our community,” said YMCA of Greenwich CEO Matthew Skaarup in a news release.

Better Together includes full access to the YMCA of Greenwich’s Group Fitness Classes including yoga, Zumba, spin, Fit for Life, and aqua classes. The tier also offers access to warm water and Olympic size pools with open swim times; open pickleball times; access to the YMCA Wellness center; community programs, such as Parkinson’s Body & Mind and LIVESTRONG; discounts on fee-based programs and more.

The Perrot Memorial Library will host Mary Calvi, journalist and author of the new book, “If a Poem Could Live and Breathe: A Novel of Teddy Roosevelt’s First Love,” at 7p.m. March 8 in the Youth Services Program Room of the Radcliffe Children’s Library. Calvi will discuss the story behind her latest novel; copies of the book will be available for signing and purchase courtesy of Athena Books.

Over the past several years, Calvi has meticulously transcribed love letters to and from Teddy Roosevelt and his first love, Alice Hathaway Lee. Most of the letters were thought to have been destroyed.

Calvi is a news anchor at WCBS-TV in New York. Her first book, “Dear George, Dear Mary: A Novel of George Washington’s First Love,” published in 2019, is airing now as a documentary on the Smithsonian Channel.
