Stamford Health to open outpatient center in South End
STAMFORD — Stamford Health, the system that includes Stamford Hospital, is planning to open another outpatient center, in the Harbor Point development of Stamford’s South End.
The approximately 6,000-square-foot center, at 170 Washington Blvd., will provide family medicine focused on primary care, as well as obstetrics and gynecology services. Stamford Health plans to open the center with three providers and several support staff members, for a total of approximately 10 people.
“We continuously evaluate the needs of the communities we serve,” Liz Longmore, Stamford Health’s senior vice president and chief operating officer, said in a written statement. “Our most recent Community Health Needs Assessment showed us that there is a growing need for primary care and OB-GYN care. This new location will expand access to care for our patients, close to where they live and/or work.”
An opening date has not been set yet. Longmore said, “we’re currently in the planning stages of the project and hope to share an opening date later this year.”
170 Washington formerly housed offices for William Pitt and Julia B. Fee Sotheby’s International Realty, whose corporate headquarters is now located a few blocks south, in the Silicon Harbor office complex, at 1 Elmcroft Road.
Stamford Health already has a presence in Harbor Point, through the HSS Sports Rehab center that opened last July at 110 Washington Blvd., a facility that is part of Stamford Health’s collaboration with Hospital for Special Surgery.
A few weeks before the opening of its Harbor Point hub, HSS Sports Rehab opened a center, at 1547 Post Road E., in Westport.
Also last year, Stamford Health expanded its presence in Norwalk by opening a center at 637 West Ave., that includes primary care, cardiology and endocrinology services.
“We are continuously evaluating how we can provide expert, compassionate care to our patients throughout lower Fairfield County,” Longmore said. “One way we expand access to care is by increasing our ambulatory and outpatient locations and services. This is and will remain an area of focus for us, to ensure we meet the needs of the communities we serve.”
