Old Greenwich colonial, close to amenities

The five-bedroom home boasts recent improvements, an oversized garage and flexible floor plan

Corcoran Centric Realty’s Caroline Jean Shen introduced 25 Lockwood Drive, Old Greenwich, to the market this week. The asking price is $2.795 million. This five-bedroom shingle-style colonial—with an attached two-car garage—was built in 1916. Showings began yesterday, on March 21. The 0.26-acre property is located in a desirable neighborhood, south of Old Greenwich’s village. The owners have made a number of improvements to the home in recent years. Listing agent Shen explained, “My clients refinished the beautiful hardwood floors and updated bathrooms a few years ago. More recently, they painted the interior and exterior of the house and repaved the driveway. Over the years, they have replaced appliances and systems, and carefully maintained their five-bedroom home.”

With two full levels of living space, the square footage of the house is estimated at 3,567. Among the first-floor rooms are a formal living room—with a fireplace at one end—a formal dining room, home office, eat-in kitchen, family room, mudroom and a partial bath.

The kitchen is designed with hardwood floors— which run throughout the two levels of the home— timeless white cabinets, granite countertops and appliances in stainless finishes, including double ovens.

“It serves as the heart of the home, as it flows easily into the adjacent family room and playroom—the perfect setup for living and entertaining,” Shen remarked. The playroom is just a few steps away, perched above the attached garage, where there’s also space for a home office.

“This extra flex space, as I like to call it, has proven to be extremely useful and practical for having guests over and entertaining,” Shen suggested. “It can also serve as a fifth bedroom, as there is an attached full bathroom.”

Four bedrooms are on the second level, including the primary suite—with walkin closets and an ensuite bath designed with double vanity sinks and a walk-in shower.

Off the back of the house, there’s a bluestone patio in place for outdoor seating and dining furnishings. It steps out to the backyard, which is level and fully fenced. “The owners have planted many arborvitae and Green Giant trees that provide privacy screening for the expansive, level backyard, where they have hosted numerous summer BBQs,” Shen said.

The attached garage provides additional utility beyond its two bays. “The almost 500-squarefoot attached garage—not included in the house square footage of 3,567 square feet—can easily accommodate two cars, a rarity in Old Greenwich,” Shen noted. “In addition, there is room for a workshop table and plenty of storage.” This property benefits from public utilities, including water and sewer services. It affords convenient proximity to the beach, shops, the train station and the Eastern Greenwich Civic Center. “The family-friendly vibe of this south-of-the-village neighborhood is precisely the reason my clients chose to move here,” the listing agent said. “Neighbors host backyard barbecues, walk their dogs, and stroll to Old Greenwich School together. The train and Binney Park are also within a 10- to 15-minute walk, and the nearby newly-built Eastern Greenwich Civic Center offers pickleball and tennis facilities.”

The listing Realtor is hosting two public open

houses this weekend at 25 Lockwood Drive—on Saturday, March 23, from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m.; and Sunday, March 24, from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m.
