Ersidia Lupinacci Groccia passed away surrounded by her family on March 24, 2024, at the age of 87. She was born on July 29, 1936, in Acri Cosenza, Italy. Ersidia came to America in 1959 after marrying the love of her life, Frank Groccia. They settled in Cos Cob, CT, where they raised their family and lived for the past 65 years. She worked at Electrolux Corporatio­n in Old Greenwich, CT prior to becoming a homemaker and raising her family. Ersidia was predecease­d by her parents Antonio and Maria Christina Lupinacci, and her husband, Frank Groccia. She is survived by her sons Vincent Groccia and wife Anne Marie of Fairfield, CT, Anthony (Tony) Groccia and his wife Dora of Stamford, CT, and a daughter Silvana Groccia Buono and her husband Tim of East Norwalk, CT. She also leaves behind her adoring grandchild­ren Steven Groccia and his wife Rachel, Frank Groccia and his wife Lauren, Melissa Groccia Balestracc­i and her husband Tom, Joanna Groccia, Christina Groccia Borsari and her husband Ryan, Nicholas Buono, Francesca Buono and Cecilia Buono. She is also survived by her four great-grandchild­ren, Chase Balestracc­i, Leo Groccia, Zoey Balestracc­i and Lucas Groccia. In addition, Ersidia is survived by her brothers and their spouses, Carmine and Raffaela Lupinacci, John and Maria Lupinacci and Fred Lupinacci, along with many nieces, nephews, and friends.

Ersidia enjoyed cooking and passing on family traditions. She was a brilliant cook who made it look so easy and loved getting the family together to make her annual homemade sauce and sausage. She cherished spending time with her children, grandchild­ren, greatgrand­children, particular­ly during holidays and family celebratio­ns. She enjoyed gardening, traveling, shopping, and visiting family and friends. Her door was always open. Simply having guests in her home for a cup of coffee or something to eat gave her great joy.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 am on Wednesday at St. Catherine of Siena Church, 4 Riverside Avenue, Riverside, CT. Entombment will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery, North Street Greenwich.
