Perrot launches seed library

On March 17, Perrot Memorial Library launched the Nancy Altznauer Memorial Seed Library, in partnership with Girl Scout Anna Mulligan, the Garden Club of Old Greenwich and Greenwich Land Trust. Altznauer was a former Perrot Library board member who was instrumental in planning and executing Perrot Library’s landscaping and gardens.

“The Seed Library represents the combined efforts of many individuals and organizations,” said Kathy McCormack, Perrot Library board president, in a news release. “Perrot Library partnered with Senior Girl Scout Anna Mulligan of Troop 50126 on the seed library as part of her Gold Award Project.”

Lori Mulligan, Girl Scout Troop 50126 co-leader; Girl Scout Gold Award Project Advisor Wendy Yu; and the master gardeners at Garden Club of Old Greenwich and Greenwich Land Trust “all helped make the seed library a reality,” she said.

A seed library makes a variety of seeds available for the public; the Nancy Altznauer Memorial Seed Library includes a variety of vegetable and flower seeds, the release said.

Perrot’s seed library is opposite the Adult Circulation Desk in the Waid Building. For now, there is a limit of one envelope of seeds per variety per home. All seed packets have a QR code to scan for easy planting directions.
