Sotheby’s Rachel Oler Franco shares her expertise in renovation and restoration with real estate clients
Rachel Oler Franco is a fourth-generation Greenwich resident. While she predominantly lived in the Riverside and Old Greenwich sections of town, over the years she has also lived in other parts of town, including Glenville and the backcountry. These experiences have given her a deep appreciation for Greenwich’s distinctive communities and amenities.
As a Realtor with Sotheby’s International Realty, she draws on her love of Greenwich, placing great value on professionalism, transparency and attention to detail. She takes pride in expertly marketing her clients’ homes.
“I believe in a multi-marketing strategy, including internet and print,” Franco remarked. “I am a firm believer that public open houses generate attention and continued focus for a property.”
Prior to real estate, Franco spent the first decade of her business career as a fixed income bond analyst at Bear Sterns & Co., and in equity research at Kidder Peabody & Co. She holds a Master’s Degree in psychology from Sacred Heart University and a Bachelor of Arts in economics from the University of Connecticut.
Franco is also an ACC Certified Life Coach. In 2002, she co-authored and published a hardcover book and photographic “tour” of
Greenwich, titled “Greenwich: Beaches to Backcountry.”
For the past 25 years, she has worked with her husband, Chris, on a number of acclaimed historic restoration and adaptive reuse projects in Greenwich—both on a nonprofit basis, as co-founders of the Greenwich Point Conservancy (Innis Arden Cottage, the Old Barn at Greenwich Point, the Feake-Ferris House), and on for-profit projects (Harbor House condominiums, Ole’s Boatyard).
“My husband and I have had a passion for historic restoration for 30 years and have done many projects personally, professionally and for nonprofits with whom we are affiliated, namely the Greenwich Point Conservancy,” Franco noted. “My deep experience in restoration and renovation enables me to give informed advice to my clients about possibilities, feasibility, regulation and costs. A recent deal, which just closed this April involved a complete renovation of a house in Riverside, where we were able to more than double the value of the property for the homeowners.”
Franco served on several other nonprofit boards, and has been involved with multiple organizations in the Greenwich community over the years, including Hortulus Garden Club, Greenwich Teen Center, Greenwich
Adult Day Care Center, Greenwich Botanical Center, Greenwich Green & Clean, Greenwich Land Trust, Greenwich Tree Conservancy and Christ Church’s Horseneck Foundation. She also served for 10 years on the Parent’s Association Board of the Greenwich Country Day School.
