Riverside

The North Mianus Pow Wow will return to Riverside this weekend with games, carnival rides, food, music, a raffle and loads of family fun.

This is the 76th edition of the Pow Wow, which serves as a fundraiser for the North Mianus Elementary School Parent Teacher Associatio­n.

The fair runs from 4 to 10 p.m. Friday at the North Mianus School, 309 Palmer Hill Road. The event opens up again on Saturday from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. and if there is rain on earlier days, the fair will be open from 11 to 5 p.m. on Sunday.

Raffle tickets are available online for $5 each and entrants have a chance to win tickets to Legoland, an iPad, a $1,000 Amazon gift card, tickets to Mets and Yankees games and more. The raffle drawing is on Sunday at 5 p.m.

Central Greenwich

The Central Middle School Building Committee will host its sixth community forum on Wednesday to update the town on the plan to replace Central Middle School.

The profession­al team working on the project will discuss the design of the new campus, the project phases and logistics as well as student and staff safety during constructi­on. The building committee will also answer questions submitted electronic­ally during the meeting.

The session will also be broadcast live and people watching the stream will also be able to submit questions.

The forum is from 7 to 8 p.m. Wednesday in the auditorium at Central Middle School, 9 Indian Rock Lane.

The forum will be broadcast live on Zoom or dial 646-558-8656 and use Webinar ID: 824 1265 1793. The meeting will be recorded for future viewing.

Downtown

The Department of Public Works will host a household hazardous waste disposal day this weekend for people to get rid of some hazardous chemicals they have at home.

People can bring bug spray, diesel fuel, solvent-based glue, lighter fluid, paint, varnish and more for disposal.

Asbestos, bulk containers of herbicides and pesticides, radioactiv­e materials, explosives and other items will not be accepted. Commercial loads will not be accepted.

Visit the town website for a full list of acceptable and unacceptab­le materials.

The event is free for residents of Greenwich, Westport, Darien, Stamford, Norwalk and New Canaan. The other towns also have waste disposal days later in the year that Greenwich residents can access.

People participat­ing should label unlabeled containers for disposal; containers should not be larger than five gallons each and safety precaution­s should be followed while handling hazardous materials.

The event is 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. May 4 at the Island Beach Parking Lot at 100 Arch St., across from the Arch Street Teen Center.

Greenwich

The town’s annual OnePass, which grants access to Greenwich’s parks and beaches, is about to expire and new 2024-25 passes will be required on May 1.

The OnePass is an all-access pass for most town beaches, parks, marinas, the town golf course and the tennis and pickleball courts.

Residents must verify their residency before a new or renewed pass can be activated. Verifying residency can take up to five days. Residency can be verified at www.greenwichc­t.gov/ webtrac.

A OnePass for a single vehicle costs $200 and there are add-on options for pickleball and golf access.

Seniors who had a valid park pass for 2023 will automatica­lly be renewed for the 2024 season.

Single use tickets are available for parks, public sessions at the ice rink, time at the skatepark and other facilities. Visit the town website for more informatio­n about single use tickets and purchasing a OnePass.
