Grow Your Golf Game
Learn, practice and have a blast at Alico Family Golf
Alittle pink golf bag in the distance is heading to the driving range—and, in front of it, is Emme. She’s only 6 years old and whether she’s taller than the bag or the other way around is hard to tell, but she’s very excited about learning how to golf. “We started coming here a year ago, and she wants to come and practice every week,” says her dad, Daniel Betlee. He notes that they’re working on improving her strength, so she’ll be able to pull back the club far enough for an efficient swing. “Right now, she still has a ‘rather hockey’ swing,” he adds.
Regardless of age and golfing experience, at Alico Family Golf you can improve your game, learn new skills and—most importantly—have a good time along the way.
Founder Kraig Feighery opened the facility in 2014 and has seen and continues to see growth year after year, as Alico Family Golf welcomes all skill levels. “You can come in here with the intent of improving your game,” Feighery says. “Or just to have fun and enjoy a game of golf without any glimpse of competitive nature.”
From mini-golf and a nine-hole short course to a driving range and golf classes, the facility never has a dull moment. It’s worth visiting even when you have just 30 to 60 minutes.
At least seven certified instructors are available to provide assistance—whether you need club fitting or want to improve your technique. Plus, a new launch monitor takes it to the hightech level: It gives you accurate data, such as swing speed and ball twist, which you then can incorporate into your practice to become better on the course.
There are plenty more ways to learn and play—from ladies’ night to adult and youth classes—all year-round. And, with summer break soon approaching, Alico Family Golf runs half-day and full-day summer camps on weekdays from June 4 to Aug. 9. The camps combine PGA instruction and fitness training with “purposebased and performancebased coaching” in an enjoyable and safe environment.
