Always Classy, Always Fast

The 2019 BMW models surprise with dazzling style and welcomed space

- BY PATRICIA LETAKIS

Without a doubt, this year’s perfect dream car is BMW’s 2019 M850i xDrive Coupe. And if you like great performance, impressive speed and sportsman style, by all means this is the car for you. BMW likes to market the 8 Series as the “Gentleman’s Racer,” and it’s easy to see the influence of motorsports in this all-new M850i xDrive Coupe. It can go from zero to 60 mph in 3.6 seconds thanks to its revised 4.4 liter twin-turbocharged V8 engine, and it boasts a top speed of 155 mph. In fact the engine makes 523 horsepower and 553 lb-ft of torque. Paired to an eight-speed automatic, it seamlessly sends power to its newly revised xDrive all-wheel drive system and rear-wheel steer system.

As for design, the enlarged kidney grille and air breathers enhance the standard aerodynamic kit. Elegant 20-inch M spoke wheels add impeccable detail to its sporty look. When it comes to the interior, you can go classic with sophisticated neutrals or choose something with daredevil appeal like a sassy red-and-black leather combo.

A LUXE SUV

If you’re thinking SUV, BMW’s 2019 X7, the first seven-passenger SUV from the German luxury automaker, is one of the most luxurious on the market. Its exterior design of intently focused lines adds elegance to its sporty styling. The X7 boasts a panorama glass roof that from the inside produces a sensation of unrestricted spaciousness, and its all-electric captain’s chairs adjust for your personalized comfort. (You can even swap out the middle-row bench seat for a pair of captain’s chairs, which will reduce seating to six.)

From a techie point of view, the X7 iPerformance badge denotes the presence of groundbreaking BMW eDrive technology allied with a BMW TwinPower Turbo gas engine.

Other noteworthy elements include: electric power split tailgate and adjustable loading height, 2-axle air suspension, and a generously sized 12.3-inch touchscreen display. Passengers really appreciate the X7’s door design. Its rear doors are longer than the front doors, which allow for easy entering and exiting from the second and third rows.

From a techie point of view, the X7 iPerformance badge denotes the presence of groundbreaking BMW eDrive technology allied with a BMW TwinPower Turbo gas engine. Together they create an exceptionally efficient and dynamic plug-in hybrid powertrain that excels in all driving situations—including running with zero local emissions.
