An­nual fes­ti­val gives Cape Coral’s fa­vorite bird its due

The 17th an­nual Bur­row­ing Owl Fes­ti­val cel­e­brates the start of nest­ing sea­son. This fam­ily event, to be held Feb­ru­ary 23 at the Ro­tary Park En­vi­ron­men­tal Cen­ter in Cape Coral, of­fers a chance to learn about Cape Coral’s fa­vorite bird through speak­ers and ed­u­ca­tional ex­hibits, as well as bus tours to see this diminu­tive bird of prey in its nat­u­ral habi­tat (the cost is a $5 do­na­tion; chil­dren un­der 16 are free). The fes­ti­val also of­fers tours of the Tom Allen Me­mo­rial But­ter­fly House, where you can pur­chase na­ture-themed art­work by lo­cal artists, and free hands-on arts and crafts ac­tiv­i­ties for chil­dren.
