John Steven Gibson, 62, was born on March 25, 1958 in Kansas City, Kansas and passed away on February 19, 2021, at his home in Guymon where he had lived for 30 years.

Steve was the son of Dr. J. Gayle Gibson and Roberta Rae (Lortz) Gibson. Steve was a 12 year graduate of Guymon Public Schools, graduating in 1977. After graduation, Steve attended Amarillo College for one year.

Steve was a member of Guymon First Baptist Church. He was active in Sunday school all his high school days, rarely missing a Sunday in church. He made a profession of faith to Jesus on March 19, 1967, and was baptized by M.J. Lee, pastor at that time.

After spending time going to college and working locally, Steve and Neva Jones were married on June 26, 1982 at the First Baptist Church, Guymon. They moved to Amarillo, Texas where Neva was in school at Esposito School of Hair Design where she was employed until 1991. Steve was assistant manager of High Plains Apartments complex during this time. Neva passed away in 1991.

Survivors include parents, Dr. Gayle and Lynda Gibson of Guymon; daughter, Megan Bratcher and Travis of Watuga, TX and granddaugh­ter, Trinity Bratcher; and son, John Cameron Gibson of Glenwood Springs, CO. He is also survived by brothers, Dr. Tim Gibson and Julie of Nazareth, PA, Robert Gibson and Deanna of Edmond, OK, and Austin and Priscilla Stewart of Ft. Collins, CO; sisters, Cynthia and David Hallford of Parachute, CO and Lynda and Jim Pettit of Midlothian, TX, along with many nephews, nieces and cousins.
