OU announces vaccination sweepstakes

- Special to the Herald

The University of Oklahoma recently announced a chance for students to win scholarships...by getting vaccinated against COVID-19.

The program, dubbed the “#OUVaccinates Student Appreciation and Incentive Program,” is offering opportunites for students who receive COVID-19 vaccines to enter drawings for scholarships and other prizes, plus three additonal chances to win through Instagram.

According to the OU website, the first opportunity to win started Thursday and runs through Sept. 3, when 10 people will have the opportunity to win an Athletics Season Tickets Package to the school’s football and basketball games. The second runs from Sept. 4 through 10, when one lucky vaccine recipient will receive a $5,000 bursar scholarship from the university. The third drawing runs Sept. 11-17, and two people will win $2,500 bursar scholarships, and the fourth will run Sept. 18-24, and five people will win $1,000 bursar scholarships.

For each drawing, students must register by noon on the final day of the drawing period, or they will be included in the pool for the next drawing.

All scholarships will be applied directly to the student’s bursar account. Winners who are ineligible for the Athletics Season Tickets Package can receive an equal or lesser-value scholarship applied directly to the student’s bursar account.

Students can also win through Instagram. On Aug. 16, Aug. 30 and Sept. 13, the #OUVaccinates program will share new Instagram posts on the @OUHealthServices Instagram Account. Students who share, tag and comment on the posts will be entered each time for a total of up to three entries.

Students without an Instagram account can email ouvaccinates@ou.edu for alternative entry methods.

After each drawing, winning students will be removed from subsequent drawings.

Students who are enrolled full time for the Fall 2021 semester in OU-Normanbased programs on the Norman or Tulsa campuses - excluding concurrently enrolled high school students and immediate family members of those involved with the prize program - are eligible to enter.

OU students, visit https://www.ou.edu/ together/vaccine to enter.
