- By: Arleen James Texas County OSU Extenion Educator

After a few years of not offering the 5 State Women In AG Conference, the Texas County OSU Extension Service and the Texas A & M AgriLife Service has partnered to bring the Conference back to our area. The event will be held at the Imagination Station at 202 N. Main Street in Stratford, Texas, March 10th. The theme for the conference is “Imagine the Possibilities in Ag” and promises to bring you lots of useful information.

Highlighting the conference lineup will be the return of Matt Rush as the capstone speaker who will speak to the imagination that is available with agriculture. Matt is an international speaker, a 4th generation family famer and cattle rancher. He hails from New Mexico and has been a very popular speaker at previous 5 State Women In Ag Conferences. He will also host an AgShop on Leadership in Ag with his wife Katie Rush. Young people will particularly enjoy this session and all FFA Chapters are invited to bring their students to the conference. If you can’t make the entire day, this session will be held at 1:00 pm.

Also, at the 1:00 time slot, Bailee Wright, Texas AgriLife Extension Agent will present on Careers in Ag. Bailee works as a Program Specialist for 4-H Youth Development in Texas.

The third AgShop at 1:00 will be on Estate Planning with Tiffany Dowell Lashmet, J.D. Tiffany is an Agricultural Law Specialist for the Texas A & M AgriLife Extension Service and focuses on legal issues in agriculture. She makes estate planning fun to talk about.

Morning Ag Shop will feature Bailee Wright speaking on ”Making good First Impression and Networking”. Also in the morning, the conference will feature a panel of women in agriculture that will speak on “Making Your Own Luck.” The panelist includes Janet Reinart, Kathy Riffe, Laura Taylor, Carol Martin, and Andrea Zimmer Wooley. Each of these ladies will talk about their experiences in agriculture and how they had to use their imagination in their lives.

Tiffany Dowell Lashmet, J. D. will kick off the conference with Hot Topics in Ag.

We will have ag vendors present for participants to visit and fabulous door prizes.

I heard there will be door prizes that include a Kitchen aide Mixer, leather tooled portfolio, air fryer, concealed carry purse, jewelry, and others.

Registration is $20.00 prior to the event with the cost being $25.00 at the door. Registration deadline is March 4th and can be made by stopping by the Texas County OSU Extension Office at 301 N. Main in Guymon to sign up and pay. Lunch will be a catered Fajita Luncheon.
