Kenneth Ray Gupton, 76, passed away January 14, 2023 at his rural home north of Guymon.

The son of William “Bill” and Fern Marie (Karnatz) Gupton, he was born June 17, 1946 in Hastings, Nebraska. Kenny attended school in Plainview, graduating with the Class of 1964. He was an Army veteran, serving during the Vietnam War.

Kenny was a farmer and cowboy, moving to Guymon from Stratford, Texas in 1979. He and Shirley Mitchell have been together since 1982.

He is preceded in death by his parents. Survivors include his wife, Shirley Mitchell of the home; five children: D’Dee Hooley of Amarillo, Texas, Monica Bort of Amarillo, Texas, Kenny Gupton and wife, Shayna of Canyon, Texas, Mary Ann Turner and husband, Allen of Jackson, Tenn., Vicki Fears and husband, Mark of Jackson, Tenn., and

Carl Haynes and wife, Wanda of Brownsvill­e, Tenn. Survivors also include 14 grandchild­ren: Toshia, Summer, Kaileh, Britnee, Hagen, Caleb, Lexi, Josh, Dylan, Logan, Tabitha, Mark, Adam and Blake; three sisters, Karen Luther of Texline, Texas, Mary Vanover and husband, Tommy of Fritch, Texas and Judy Taylor of Amarillo, Texas, and one brother, Jimmy Gupton of Corpus Christi, Texas., and numerous great- and great-great- grandchild­ren.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Thursday. at the BunchRober­ts Chapel with Rev. Odie Nunley officiatin­g.

Interment will follow in the Stratford, Texas, Cemetery with U.S. Army Honors. Memorials in memory of Kenny may be given to the American Cancer Society. Memorials will be accepted at the Bunch-Roberts Funeral Home, P.O. Box 1112, Guymon, Okla. 73942.
