-

Nancy Rose Boyett,

85, passed away Jan. 18, 2023, at Guymon Memorial Hospital. She was born Jan. 17, 1938, to Edwin and Minnie T. (Willis) Bunger. She grew up in Straight, where she attended grade school. She then attended and graduated from Guymon High school with the Class of 1956.

Shortly after graduation, Nancy attended beauty school in Tulsa. She quickly returned to Guymon to use her new skills at her job at Ester’s Dress Shop in downtown Guymon and to marry her high school sweetheart, Jimmie Joe Rogers. From this union, three daughters were born. While raising her girls, Nancy did babysitting in her home, took in ironing, and worked as a clerk at the Sinclair Truck Stop.

In 1970, she started a new job working for Alex Hofferber at Hofferber Truck Line. In 1970, she also met and married the second love of her life, William H. (Johnny) Johniken. Johnny had three adult children, now her stepchildren, so she quickly set to taking them under her motherly wings.

In 1987, Nancy would marry the third main man of her life, Alvin E. Boyett. With this marriage, Al brought seven stepchildren. That gave Nancy a baker’s dozen in children and she is so proud.

In 1989, a new store came to town and Nancy started working for Walmart, three weeks before it opened in Guymon. She would be one of the longest employed persons for Guymon Walmart and she bragged that she made her very best friends working at this job. She worked for Walmart for just short of thirty years, until her health would no longer allow her to.

After retirement, Nancy spent a couple years at the Heritage Center in Guymon, doing her favorite things, playing board games and talking. When the COVID epidemic came, she came to live at her daughter Lorri’s house and she learned her two next past times, playing games on the iPad and texting.

Nancy is survived by her brother Herman Bunger and his wife Vicki; her children: Erica and Danny Neal, Lorri and Ivan Clark, Amy and Joe Kane, Karen and Buck Hall, Vicky Terrell, and Mildred and Keven Muirheid.
