Ruby Fast, 96, of Hooker went to be with her heavenly Father on Feb. 17, 2023 in Beaver.

Ruby was born Feb. 2, 1927 in Cuervo, N.M., to Geronimo and Leticia Garcia. She had three brothers, Moises, Emilio and Marcus and one sister, Sadie Fief.

Ruby graduated from Hooker High School with the Class of 1948. She was employed by Hooker Bell Telephone as an operator her senior year. Then, she worked for First National Bank and, in 1954, Ruby began working for TriCounty Electric, where she retired after 40 years.

Ruby married Marvin Morgan and they had two daughters, Marva Jean and Patricia Ann. She returned to Hooker with her girls, where she made her home. While working at Tri-County Electric, Ruby met Paul Fast of Hooker and they were married in 1958 at St. John’s Lutheran Church.

Ruby was involved in many activities, including Business Profession­al Women Club; Tops; Levi &

Lace Square Dancers; Lutheran Ladies Lamp Lighters; and the Texas County Election Board. She also enjoyed volunteeri­ng at the Hooker Chamber of Commerce, helped deliver meals for the elderly and assisted kindergart­en school children daily on their bus rides home as she was fluent in Spanish.

At the age of 88, Ruby put on Christ through baptism on March 20, 2015 at the Hooker Church of Christ, where she worshipped and remained active in Ladies Bible Class until moving to the Beaver County Nursing Home in 2022.

When not working Ruby enjoyed embroideri­ng, crocheting, quilting, diamond dot art, word search and her favorite games of Phase 10 and dominoes with her family.

Preceding Ruby in death is her husband Paul Fast.

Ruby’s love and blessings include her sister Sadie Fief of Beaver; daughters, Marva Herald and husband

Dan of Hooker; and Patsy Fischer and husband Tom of Liberal, Kan. Her grandchild­ren and great-grandchild­ren, who indeed were the light of her life including, Marcie Rudd and husband Jason of Jackson, Tenn., and their children, Lawson and Hudson Rudd; Nathan Fischer and wife Heather of Hiram, Ga., and children Hunter and wife Savannah, Chase and Chloe; Gabe Herald and wife Merideth of Oklahoma City and their children, Jennings, Ripland and Jonesy; Aaron Fischer and wife Lyndsy of Kathleen,

Ga., and children Riley, Luke and Kyle; Austin Herald of Colorado Springs, Colo., and sons Lucas, Barrett and Bowen; Julie Lehr and husband Shane of Alva, and children Chloe, Endy, London and Axel; Anthony Jackson of Alva, and children Ruby and Harvey.

Ruby enjoyed the time being with her sister Sadie Fief at the Beaver County Nursing Home and loved her nieces and nephews, Cindy Bailey and husband Lonnie of Gate; Linda Rodgers and husband John of Canton, Ohio; Jack Rogers and wife Susan of Fraziers Bottom, W. Va; Karl Fast of Hooker; Carla Purdy of Guthrie; Marcus Garcia, Carlos Garcia, Mary Alice Medina, Anna Armijo and Virginia Lucero, all of Albuquerqu­e, N.M.

Visitation was held at the Roberts Brothers Funeral Home in Hooker from 1-8 p.m. Monday and the family greeted friends from 6-8 p.m.

Funeral services are being held at 2 p.m. today at the Hooker Church of Christ with Jordan Arnold officiatin­g. Interment will follow at the Hooker Cemetery.

Memorials are suggested to be made to the Hooker Ambulance Fund or the Hooker Firefighte­rs and may be left at Roberts Brothers Funeral Home, Box 745, Hooker, Okla. 73945.
