Evelyn Arlene Bowers, 84, of Kingfisher, passed away peacefully Feb. 15, 2023, after an 11-month battle with cancer. She was surrounded by several family members at the time of her death.

Evelyn was born in Catoosa to Jess and Marie Clark.

Evelyn is preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 53 years, Wayne Bowers, and one son, Stacy.

Evelyn is survived by her sister Trixie Johnston; brother Lee Clark; and her children Bret Bowers and wife Nora; Kelly Bowers and Marla, of Adams; Kris Rider and husband Bart of Broken Arrow; and Amy Tharp of Perkins; nine grandchild­ren: Delci, Bret Jr, Laci, Andrew, Mikayla, Adam, Sydnie, Lyndon, and Cassidy, and ten greatgrand­children; Elly, Ethan, Aliyah, Rey, Alexcis, Aubree, Masyn, Amy Kate, Asher, and Thea and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Evelyn lived most of her life in the Oklahoma Panhandle, graduating from Adams High School. She married Wayne Bowers and they began their lives together farming and raising their five children in the Adams area.

Evelyn was involved in the community and a member of Adams Baptist Church and, later, a member of Turpin Baptist Church. She moved to Kingfisher in 2007.

Evelyn was a talented seamstress, self-taught bookkeeper, loyal friend to many, and loving mother and grandmothe­r to her children, grandchild­ren, and greatgrand­children.

Her faith in Christ was very important to her, giving her the strength needed through life’s hardships and joy in life’s blessings.

Per Evelyn’s wishes, her ashes will be laid next to her husband and son on the family farm.

A memorial service is pending.

In lieu of flowers, contributi­ons can be made to Turpin Baptist Church, any military Veterans department, or organizati­ons or charities of your choice.

Cremation was done under the care of Wilson Funeral Home in Kingfisher.
