The game, held at OPSU’s home court, saw the Aggies in a tight match with UNTDallas throughout, ultimately resulting in a 48-43 defeat.

At halftime, the score was deadlocked 20-20, as OPSU’s formidable defense prevented UNT-Dallas from taking a substantial lead in the first half. The third quarter saw OPSU outscoring their opponents 12-9, providing a glimmer of hope for the Aggies. However, in the final quarter, UNT-Dallas surged ahead, scoring 19 points and securing the victory.

Despite the loss, OPSU’s women’s basketball team displayed tenacity and skill on the court. OPSU coach Maria Wiltzius expressed her pride in the team’s efforts, saying, “I am proud of these girls with everything that went on this year. They deserve a lot of credit, even if we didn’t win a lot of games. They played hard for me, they were coachable, and bought into my coaching style even though I did not recruit them. I appreciate that. I look forward to continuing to build and improve. OPSU women’s basketball needs to take a step up.”

Despite not making the conference tournament this year, the Aggies (3-21 overall, 3-18 SAC) remain optimistic about the future and are committed to further growth and success under Coach Wiltzius’s leadership.
