The Five-Eighty tournaments turn Tuesdays into Fridays

- --- By MARIAH STUCHLIK

Tuesdays are no longer tame around Guymon. The Five-Eighty Taproom and Playhouse is a great spot for social gatherings, hosting a wide variety of concerts and events.

Now, The Five-Eighty is the home of Tournament Tuesday, the perfect way to have fun. Every Tuesday, The Five-Eighty alternates between pool and cornhole tournaments, with prizes being 100% cash payouts

All ages are encouraged to play.

There are two types of pool played, the regular eight-ball game and, then, nine-ball. Both require a steady hand.

Cornhole is a tossing game where opponents take bean bags and try to throw them in to a hole at the top of a piece of wood. The game requires skill and patience to land a good shot.

“A local Baggers group is coordinating with The FiveEighty for the cornhole tournaments,” Kara Silvey said.

That group is called the The 580 Baggers, who are new to the area and are bringing the world of cornhole to Texas County.

Games range from singles to couples, all a blind draw. A blind draw in a tournament means that opponents are drawn at random.

More information can be found on The Five-Eighty’s Facebook and Instagram pages.

Signup is simple. Any time before 7 p.m., contestants may register for the tournaments. There is a $10 entry fee to register.

The Five-Eighty also has ax throwing, darts and, of course, pool tables.

It’s a fun place to catch a concert or just enjoy a meal. Wings are served side-by-side with pizza and other treats.

Newly opened, The FiveEighty is a great addition to the community to provide excellent family fun.

There is a large selection of beer on tap that can be purchased for adult patrons, with a unique system. The customer chooses the beer they want, and an animated machine fills the order. It’s a new experience for many but definitely interesting.

Tournament Tuesdays are a great way to find a good time during the week.

The Five-Eighty is a fun place to be, full of good energy and good food. The local cornhole group ,The 580 Baggers, are great contributors to this fun new tradition.
