MAPLES, Ralph Eugene

Age 91, of Middletown, Ohio, passed away on Thursday,

November 4, 2021. Ralph was born May 16, 1930, in Everton,

West Virginia.

Ralph is a veteran of the United States Army, where he served as a Drill Sergeant. He is a Korean War Veteran and was awarded the Purple Heart.

After transition­ing from the military, he continued to serve his community as Sergeant with the City of Monroe, Ohio, Police Department. In addition, he worked full time with Miami Carey, he fully retired in 1989. After retirement he enjoyed spending time with friends and family. He enjoyed his time at Meijer Cafe where he and his friends shared coffee and engaged in meaningful conversati­ons. He knew no strangers and everyone was welcomed to pull up a chair! Ralph lived a life of service. He was always ready to lend a helping hand to those who needed it. His legacy of service to others will live on in our memories and the values he has left for all of us. The SGT Ralph E. Maples Scholarshi­p is being establishe­d in his honor and will allow transition­ing veterans, National Guardsmen and Reservists to carry on his dedication to service through enrolling in the Police Academy or pursue a degree in Criminal Justice.

In addition to his parents Noah Sr. and Lonzie, he is preceded in death by his wife of 57 years Janice, brothers Neal Maples, Noah Maples Jr, Paul Maples, Ronnie Maples: sisters, Mary Louise (Midge) Suttles, Jean Begley, and Edith Gravitt. Ralph is survived by his children, Robert (Wife, Geri),Maples, Lisa (Husband, William) Cantrell, and Tara (Husband, Mitch) Miller sibling, Carrie Martin. Grandchild­ren, William (Wife, Ashley) Maples, Brandy (Husband, David) Kramer, Shane Maples, Emily Maples, Jacob Ante, Adrian (Husband, Carlo) Thompson, William Cantrell Jr. and several Great-Grandchild­ren.

Visitation will be 11:00 am-1:00 pm on 16th day, November Tuesday, 2021, at Breitenbac­h Anderson Funeral Home, 517 South Sutphin Street, Middletown, OH 45044. A Memorial Service will follow at 1:00 pm with Pastor Roger Green officiatin­g. Burial will be at Dayton National Cemetery.
