OXFORD TWP. Trustees meeting

-

The Oxford Twp. Board of Trustees held its regular monthly meeting on Nov. 8.

Several residents expressed their opinions on a recent proposal by Glenwood Energy to install gas mains in the Springwood subdivision.

The trustees also addressed the usual financial

matters and committee reports.

Road superintendent Johnny Smith reported that he will spend most of his time over the next month cutting roadside brush and trimming overhead branches. He reported that paving work on township roads has been completed.

Acting police chief Piccioni reported that since the October meeting the department has handled 111 calls for service (not including 911 calls), taken 23 reports, made four arrests and responded to eight traffic crashes.

The department’s “Dam Good Halloween Party” at Hueston Woods on Oct. 24 drew 150 guests.

The department’s next project is “Cram A Cruiser,” an effort to fill a cruiser with food items for Grace Point Church’s food bank. All are invited to bring food items to the department between 8 a.m. and 3 p.m. weekdays until Friday. Call the department for a pickup if items cannot be delivered.

The trustees discussed the offer of a donation of a parcel of land on Pamajera Drive, but tabled a final decision. They neither approved nor denied the application from Glenwood Energy because they were informed by the county engineer that the authority to deal with utility installation proposals on township roads rests with the county engineer.

At a special meeting on Nov. 4, the trustees agreed on the details of another special meeting, to be held

at 6:30 p.m. Nov. 30 in the Performing Arts Center at Talawanda High School. All property owners in unincorporated Oxford Twp. will receive a letter explaining the meeting details and the options available for future provision of police protection for the township.

Residents will be able to express their preference by attending the meeting or by following directions in the letter to send an email or make a phone call.

The next regular monthly meeting will be held in person, with virtual attendance included, at 6:30 p.m. Dec. 13 at Township Hall. CONTRIBUTED
