EMPLOYERS - ARE YOU INCLUDING THE RIGHT SKILLS?

The Chamber of Commerce serving Middletown, Monroe, Trenton EMPLOYERS, are you tired of spinning your wheels to find the same nonqualifi­ed candidates on every job board?

Solving the problems that revolve around workforce challenges is quite complex and can take many paths.

With our new initiative, Skills2Car­eers, we are taking a skills -based approach.

We have partnered with a national technology company (Emsi/Burning Glass) that tracks real time labor market data and has more than 32,000 descriptiv­e word skill sets in their database. Skills2Car­eers Our initiative uses stateof-the-art technology to remove barriers caused by employers not knowing what skills they need and job seekers not knowing the skills they have.

This skills-based approach is a simple concept, however many employers are slow to adapt. We work with local employers to help them create a more accurate job posting that includes the skills required.

The technology compares your job posting against all other postings in their database with similar job titles. The results are in various categories: key skills, relevant skills skill opportunit­ies. and

The system also tells us if you’re using an obsolete job title. The findings of our research are returned to the employer who is able to develop a more effective job posting, listing the required skills of the

The same terms used in refining the job posting are the same terms used by job seekers to build their skills profile. This is the technology behind making an ideal match between employer and job seeker.

As employers, educators and job seekers begin to use skills as their common language, this will result in decreased hiring & onboarding time and an increase in retention of employees.
