Best known to many for her series roles in “Call the Midwife” and “The Crown” (playing Camilla Parker Bowles in the latter), Emerald Fennell made a formidable feature directorial debut with this 2020 black-comedy thriller, earning an Oscar nod in that capacity and taking the award itself for her screenplay. Carey Mulligan scored a best actress nomination (along with several other accolades) for her fearless performance as a 30-yearold medical school dropout who embarks on a vigilante crusade against men who victimize women. Bo Burnham, Jennifer Coolidge and Alison Brie co-star.
