NOTICE OF PUBLIC INFORMATION MEETING FOR PROPOSED MAJOR UTILITY FACILITY
Duke Energy Ohio, Inc., (Duke Energy Ohio) Schedules Open House to Discuss Natural Gas Pipeline Project
Duke Energy Ohio invites residents of Butler County to attend a public information open house regarding plans to replace the CG07 natural gas pipeline that will run through Monroe, Lemon, and Liberty Townships.
A public information open house to discuss the proposed Butler County Phase 2 Natural Gas Pipeline (or “Project”), will take place as follows:
January 17, 2023, 5-7:30 P.M. at the Butler Tech Monroe Campus, 640 Hamilton Lebanon Road, Monroe, OH 45050-1349
Duke Energy Ohio plans to replace the CG07 natural gas pipeline for approximately 5-6 miles, in Monroe, Lemon, and Liberty Townships. The project being proposed is a like-size replacement, modernization, and relocation of the existing CG07 pipeline. The Company’s goal is to preserve the existing level of service within the Duke Energy Ohio natural gas system while supporting integrity assessments that must be made pursuant to Title 49 of the Code of Federal Regulations, Part 192, Subpart O.
The Project consists of approximately 5-6 miles of 16inch steel natural gas line. The general Project location is shown on the accompanying map of the area.
Duke Energy Ohio expects to file an application for a Certificate of Environmental Compatibility and Public Need for the Project with the Ohio Power Siting Board (OPSB) in February 2023. The application has been assigned case number 22-1072-GA-BTX. This number should be included in all communications with respect to this Project.
The OPSB is responsible for reviewing information related to this Project – including input from the public – and determining whether the proposed Project should be approved. There are two proposed route corridors at this time, as shown on the accompanying map. Two potential route corridors will be submitted to OPSB for permitting. The OPSB will make the final decision regarding route selection. It should be noted that, due to reduced scale and limited detail, this map should be used only as a general guide.
If the application is approved, construction of the Project could begin in 2024 and be complete by 2026. Construction on each property typically takes a few weeks, not counting restoration, but may vary greatly depending on the size of the lot and other factors.
