NSDAR chapter holds meeting

The NSDAR’s Nathaniel Sackett Chapter had a meeting on April 19, with guest speaker Yvonne Hayes, Hamilton Chapter Vice President of the Izaak Walton League of America (IWLA) Conservati­on, presenting on both local and national conservati­on methods including the clean-up of train derailment­s. The chapter also had a new member induction ceremony plus several members received awards, from both the National Society and the Ohio State Society (OSDAR).

Alyssa Ahlers of Monroe was inducted into the Chapter with her pinning by Chapter Registrar Mollie Glover.

Wreaths Across America Chapter Chair Shelia McClung of Trenton received the Excellent Ongoing Support of our Veterans from the NSDAR National Defense Committee as well as a gift certificat­e from Mission BBQ General Manager Rob Thorp.

Leslie Arendt of South Charleston won the State of

Ohio American Heritage Contest - Fiber Arts for her Historical Dress entry.

Chapter Registrar Mollie Glover of New Lebanon received her certificat­e for completing the GEP I and GEP II courses, becoming a Volunteer Field Genealogis­t.

Chapter Vice Regent Cheri Lehrter of Reading received a certificat­e for being the Ohio Society DAR Project Patriot Committee Vice Chair – Southwest District in addition to being recognized for developing and distributi­ng the chapter monthly newsletter.

The National Society Daughters of the American Revolution (NSDAR) is a volunteer service organizati­on, based on lineage to someone who fought or gave aid to the American Revolution.
