Sherwin-Williams HQ reaches milestone
CLEVELAND — Sherwin-Williams is another step closer to completing its massive global headquarters in downtown Cleveland.
The company announced the “topping off” of its headquarters, which marked the completion of the 36-story building’s structural work just shy of two years after the project broke ground in January 2022.
Sherwin-Williams celebrated this milestone with a ceremony on Monday by decorating its final steel beam with an American flag and evergreen tree, which is supposed to symbolize good luck for the building’s future occupants.
The beam also features the signatures of more than 600 construction workers, supervisors, project architects, elected officials, including Cleveland Mayor Justin Bibb, Sherwin-Williams team members and more.
“It is exciting to see the significant progress being made on our new global headquarters and we are so proud to be investing in the future of our company and the future of the region, which has been our home since 1866,” said John Morikis, Sherwin-Williams chairman and CEO.
Sherwin-Williams’ President Heidi Petz, who will become the company’s first woman CEO on Jan. 1, thanked the construction crew for their “dedication to working safely and consistently,” for getting the project to this milestone.
“With this event, we are that much closer to moving into our state-of-the-art workplace designed to spark creativity and innovation that will serve our customers and retain and attract talent,” she added.
The global headquarters, which is a part of Sherwin-Williams’ “Building Our Future” project, is estimated to be 1 million square feet.
