AI regulation subject of March 18 talk

-

With the rise of artificial intelligence (AI) websites like ChatGPT, concerns of global instability linked to AI-driven automation, fake news, and even electronic implants in human brains, fears of new technology spiraling beyond human control are bigger than ever.

These issues take center stage at Miami Middletown’s Dave Finkelman Auditorium at 7 p.m. March 18, with this year’s Alex and Lena Casper Memorial Lecturer, Noah Feldman.

How do we regulate AI for safety and fairness? How will our ethics around AI, or lack thereof, determine the future? Who should be in charge of AI regulation? These questions and more are the subject of Feldman’s upcoming talk.

In 2021, Feldman founded Ethical Compass Advisors, which helps technology clients like Meta (Facebook), eBay, TikTok, and major AI start-ups improve ethical decision-making. Exploring the crossroads of artificial intelligence, technology, governance, ethics, and the law, he has spoken on stages around the world, from China and India to Europe, the Middle East, and every major city in the United States.

Feldman serves as Felix Frankfurter Professor of Law, chair of the Society of Fellows, and founding director of the Julis-Rabinowitz Program on Jewish and Israeli Law at Harvard University. He is the author of ten acclaimed nonfiction books, including “Divided By God,” “What We Owe Iraq,” “Cool War,” “The Three Lives of James Madison,” “Arab Winter,” and “The Broken Constitution.” His latest book, out this month, is “To Be a Jew Today: A New Guide to God, Israel, and the Jewish People.”

This event is free and open to the public. RSVP online at MiamiOH.edu/Regionals/RSVP or call 513-785-3277.

The Dave Finkelman Auditorium is located on the Miami University Regionals’ Middletown Campus at 4200 N. University Blvd.
