TAKE IT TO THE BRIDGE
WITH ITS ECO-CHIC VIBE AND CALM-INDUCING DESIGN, 1 HOTEL BROO LYN BRIDGE IS A NATURAL CHOICE TO MAKE THE MOST OF NYC THIS SUMMER.
With its eco-chic vibe, 1 Hotel Brooklyn Bridge is a natural choice to make the most of NYC in the summer.
Part of the eco-luxe brand developed by Starwood founder Barry Sternlicht, the new waterfront 1 Hotel Brooklyn Bridge is a crash pad with impeccable green credentials. According to the brand’s VP of sustainability, Amanda Desantis, the focus is on “creating spaces that inspire people to reflect on nature… a gentle encouragement to be more conscientious and mindful.”
Indeed, more than half the materials used in the 194-room building were reclaimed, including heart pine beam wood from the nearby former Domino Sugar factory, while it’s powered entirely by renewable wind energy. The hotel even overlooks the lawns of Pier 1’s park. “We really encourage our guests to get outdoors, so this is an ideal combination of ‘city meets nature,’” Desantis continues.
But there’s added incentive to book here beyond the lush, natural vibe. This summer, the hotel debuts a buzzy rooftop bar with impressive views across the water to One World Trade Center and the Statue of Liberty— Desantis describes investing in this extra asset as “a no-brainer.” Sure, anyone can sidle up for a cocktail or two, but one privilege is reserved exclusively for hotel guests: access to the bar’s adjoining relaxation pool, as soothing a spot on a hot summer Sunday as any Hamptons poolside. 60 Furman St., Brooklyn, 347-696-2500; 1hotels .com/brooklyn-bridge
