Jennifer Satinsky is kind and energetic and has a way with people: In her presence, the stubborn husband suddenly laughs; the tantrum-prone toddler settles. But, she says, it’s not about perfection. “That’s not what I’m looking for,” the photographer explains. “The best shot usually happens in the in-between moments— the nervous giggles, the wind making wild hair. It’s my job to expect what’s least expected and capture it. That’s where the good stuff is.”

Shooting everything from real estate and lifestyle to corporate and landscape, Satinsky is the go-to photographer out East. But mostly, she says, “I just want to capture life’s important moments.” For the past seven years, Satinsky has focused her business, Satin Sky Photo, on the milestones that matter: weddings, engagements, new babies, or Grandma’s 90th-birthday party on the beach.

She has begun to add edited video clips to her packages, which make for the perfect gift. And she’s been doing lots of intimate boudoir shoots and parties, which she calls fun but also important and empowering. “I bring the playlists and Champagne,” she says, “and you bring the strength, beauty, and honesty. It’s amazing to see people open up and come into their own. Boudoir does that.”

This summer, she has been happily capturing the Hamptons’ changing light. “There is so much material out here,” she says. “It’s an honor to be able to snatch it up in the best way I know how.”
