Martha Stewart lives in a traditional house on Lily Pond Lane but in 1995 bought architect Gordon Bunshaft’s Travertine House on Georgica Pond in order to preserve it. After a feud with neighbor Harry Macklowe, she transferred ownership to daughter Alexis, who later sold it to a buyer who demolished it.
Harry Macklowe recently left his wife for another woman and his house on Georgica Close Road for a small place on West End Road. The divorce is said to be costing $1 billion; the new digs were a mere $10.6 million. Steven Spielberg pioneered Hollywood’s incursion into the Hamptons. He lives in a semi-modernist compound on Georgica Cove that he built years before the modernist revival.
David Geffen bought Courtney Sale Ross’s Cody House compound on Georgica Cove for $52 million in 2014 but then ricocheted out in 2016 for a $70 million purchase of the late Josephine Chaus’s oceanfront estate on Lily Pond Lane.
Jon Bon Jovi lives in a house on the corner of Ocean Avenue and Lily Pond Lane: the former workshop of sculptor E.C. Potter.
