INTERIOR DESIGNER STEPHANIE MICHAAN BRINGS HER AIRY AESTHETIC TO A NEW SAG HARBOR SHOP. BY JESSICA SOFFER
Interior designer Stephanie Michaan brings her airy aesthetic to a new Sag Harbor shop.
The first thing you notice when walking into Stephanie Michaan’s new Sag Harbor store, The Interior, is that she understands space. There are rows of neat shelves lined with Turkish towels, tabletop ceramics, soaps, specialty salts, olive oils, and coffeetable books. The walls are decorated with beautiful framed photos by Read Mckendree and Glen Allsop. The outside is done up with beachy plants. It is light, airy, and well thought-out. In short, it is the perfect Hamptons spot.
Michaan is an interior designer who lives in Bridgehampton and has led a wide range of projects, from a wellness studio in Bedford to a home renovation in St. Barth’s. She wanted to take her love of design to the next level. “I am most excited about sourcing and buying,” she says. “Having a store in which I can curate different designers and products is a dream.”
For Michaan, it’s not just about retail. “The store reflects my design philosophies, but is also a welcoming place for different pop-ups, trunk shows, dinner parties, et cetera.” On the docket this summer are openings for artists, dinners with stylemakers, writing workshops, and indoor/outdoor brunches with plant-based chefs. Come for the chairs, stay for the vibe. 11 Bridge St., Sag Harbor, 631-8083707; theinteriorny.com
