Susan Breitenbach is making waves as the East End’s turnkey queen.
The Wall Street Journal ranked Susan Breitenbach as the top Hamptons broker for 2016. We sat down with her to talk about her success.
What is it about you that makes some of the most high-powered people in the world turn to you when deciding to purchase a home? I take my business very seriously, and I live and breathe real estate every minute. Most important is knowledge in my business, experience from doing this full-time for 27 years, and having negotiating skills. I am still amazed when some of the most powerful people in the world not only ask for my opinion on real estate, but then they listen! What is one of the most satisfying deals you have ever completed? I think all the deals I do are satisfying, but one that comes to mind was a very challenging one, where the owner kept changing her mind, price, and terms for almost six months. The buyers were extremely patient. They had total confidence in me that I would get the deal done. What is the most interesting or intriguing property you’re representing now? Jacqueline Kennedy’s family property at 121 Further Lane, where she grew up in East Hampton. It is impeccably restored, like no other property I have seen, on more than seven acres with many outbuildings. Do you have any advice to prospective buyers about the Hamptons market right now? Right now it is a great time to buy. With summer coming, there’s lots of inventory, and prices have adjusted. Where are some great properties that people might miss? There are some amazing properties that are under the radar, north of the highway, most notably Matt Lauer’s 25-acre estate, which is a gardener’s dream. It’s so private and beautiful. What’s the secret to your success? The secret to success in real estate is to put your heart into it, be the most knowledgeable, work 24/7, and never give up! 1936 Montauk Hwy., Bridgehampton, 631-8990303; susanbreiten bach.com
