High-end scarves get a turn at decor with designer Kari Elizabeth’s stunning pillows.

Through her travels around the world, Kari Hershey collected high-end scarves from Hermés, Chanel, Dior, and other designers for more than 20 years before she decided the pieces needed to be displayed and enjoyed. So she transformed them into gorgeous vintage throw pillows, now sold under her upscale lifestyle brand, Kari Elizabeth.
In her home, you’ll find a classic Hermés scarf, repurposed into a pillow that “just pops” on a white couch, surrounded by club chairs and coffee tables from JANGEORGE in Sag Harbor.
“It’s a statement piece with a pop of color, classic vintage,” says Hershey, who studied textiles at the New York School of Interior Design and gathered scarves from France and Italy.
The designer recently began collecting more scarves, and is selling the expertly crafted 100-percent silk pillows, ranging in size and shape from lumbar to square, online. The couture pillows, filled with a goose-feather and down blend, will also be sold in the Hamptons in a limited quantity at Sea Green Designs in Southampton (seagreen designsllc.com).
Each has its own personality. “I think the Chanel, which is a very light, almost pastel blue with a white logo, is stunning, while the Lanvin, a Kelly green, would be amazing for any Hamptons home,” says Hershey, who has also created Rolex scarf pillows, which she recommends for a man cave or someone who collects watches.
