I can’t believe it’s the first week of August and we’re in the throes of summer—the seas and bays are warm and inviting, the air is sultry and sweet, and the farm stands are bursting with fresh fruits, vegetables, and flowers grown by our local farmers. There is nothing better for me than heading to my garden to pick fresh arugula, cilantro, and basil to start my day with a delicious, vitaminpacked homemade juice.
This week, we have more ways to participate in #Summerofself! Please join us on Saturday, August 5, starting at 9 am, on the lawn of The Mill in Water Mill, where we’re sponsoring another great Hamptons health and wellness initiative: Southampton Sweat. This fitness festival combines music and fashion. You can sign up for free fitness classes taught by some of the hottest names in boutique fitness, such as Dogpound, Tone House, and newcomer Solace. Or if you’re inclined to be on the water to support an important cause, Paddle and Party for Pink, also on August 5, supports the Breast Cancer Research Foundation and is hosted by founder, investor, entrepreneur, breast cancer survivor, and mother of four Maria Baum and her husband, Larry. Last year’s event raised an astounding $1.9 million for breast cancer research; this year’s will begin with an early-morning paddleboard race off Havens Beach in Sag Harbor, followed by a sunset party at Fairview Farm at Mecox.
Later in the day, clean up, dress up, and join us for one of the most important events of the season: Southampton Hospital’s 59th Annual Summer Party, benefiting the Jenny and John Paulson Emergency Department and hosted by Benefit Chairs Terrence Mcnally and Tom Kirdahy, and Marigay Mckee and Bill Ford; Honorary Chair Georgina Bloomberg; and Corporate Chair Douglas Elliman Real Estate. This joyous evening will feature cocktails with dinner by our partner Lawrence Scott Events.
