LETTER FROM THE EDITOR-IN-CHIEF
FROM THE EDITOR-IN-CHIEF
When you get the call to work with Alec Baldwin, you stop everything. Truly, that’s what happens. You breathe for a second—and then get to work. I received the call on a Friday and we were off to a photo shoot and interview the following Monday. We move very quickly here at Hamptons magazine. Alec has long supported cultural institutions on the East End, such as the East Hampton Library and Guild Hall, where he was photographed for the cover of this issue. He works tirelessly for our community and is extraordinarily passionate about Guild Hall, as well as the Hamptons International Film Festival, both of which he talks to us in depth about in “Bring It On, Baldwin!” (page 80).
This issue is filled to the brim with many of my favorite people: Jessica Soffer interviews Carissa Waechter of Carissa’s The Bakery—who just opened one of the chicest shops in East Hampton; we talk to Michael Chernow of Seamore’s in the recently reopened Breakers; Stephanie von Watzdorf helps us express our bohemian side with Figue; and Ariane and Max Goldman walk us through their East Hampton home.
Speaking of beautiful homes, after the East Hampton Library’s highly anticipated Authors Night, which takes place on the library’s grounds on Saturday from 5 to 7:30 pm, Hamptons magazine has an exclusive dinner planned where we will celebrate a number of the authors who have spent the day signing copies of their books under the tents. This year we honor Annie Falk, Laurie Gelman, Alex Guarnaschelli, Marissa Hermer, Robyn Lea, Jessica Siskin, and Elizabeth Vargas. Turn to page 56 for one-on-one interviews with each of them. Whether you attend the event at the library or join one of the private dinners around East Hampton, be sure to check out Authorsnight.org to see how you can get involved.
