She has lived a life any style maven would relish—from working for Karl Lagerfeld to penning bios of Christian Dior and YSL muse Loulou de la Falaise. Now Natasha FraserCavassoni turns a keen eye on her own career.

What inspired After Andy? Seeing Warhol’s giant Mao in the [Art Institute of Chicago] in 2014. All these memories flooded back, my first one being when I was 16 and Andy tried to set me up with an Armani model who was the son of a collector. You covered parties for Interview. Who inspired you then? Nell Campbell, the queen of the night. Nothing compared to her nightclub, Nell’s. She was a natural hostess, fabulous conversationalist, and possessed an eye for people. How was writing about your family? It was easy to write about my late father and my stepfather, Harold Pinter, but hard to write about my mother and siblings, since they are still alive and somewhat terrifying! Mum always encouraged us to write. She used to pay us one pound per page when penning our diaries. What’s your favorite Hamptons spot? The American Hotel in Sag Harbor, where writers like John Steinbeck used to hang out. The atmosphere reminds me of my bohemian childhood and my parents’ writer friends. Any advice for aspiring fashion writers? Read, read, read and then strengthen your references by boning up on art history. Describe your style in three words. State of siege.
