BOXING: Floyd Mayweather Jr. says he’s coming out of retirement again to fight Manny Pacquiao for a second time in December. Mayweather posted a video on Instagram early Saturday that showed him and Pacquiao together, reportedly in Japan, jawing at each other over a possible second fight. Whether the fight actually happens remains to be seen. Oddsmakers at the Westgate Las Vegas Superbook immediatel­y made Mayweather a 2-1 favorite.

GOLF: Scott McCarron shot a 9-under 63 at Warwick Hills in Grand Blanc, Mich., for a share of the Ally Challenge lead with Tom Lehman and Jeff Maggert. The leaders were at 10-under 135. Vijay Singh, a three-time winner at Warwick Hills in the PGA Tour’s defunct Buick Open, was 7 under.

NFL: The Browns announced that they intend to release former Pro Bowl wide receiver Josh Gordon on Monday. The Browns provided no details behind their decision, but a source told ESPN that he broke the team’s “trust” when he reported to the facility with a hamstring issue after being a full participan­t in practice all week. ... Packers QB Aaron Rodgers took part in practice for the first time this week after being held out with a left knee injury. Rodgers was held out on Wednesday and Thursday to focus on rehab ahead of Sunday’s game against the Vikings. ... New Seahawks linebacker Mychal Kendricks will play on Monday night against the Bears. The Seahawks ruled out both of its starting linebacker­s, K.J. Wright and Bobby Wagner, due to injuries.

NHL: Penguins coach Mike Sullivan is taking a leave of absence following the death of his father, George. The Penguins said George Sullivan, 81, died Saturday in Scituate, Mass. Assistant coach Jacques Martin will run the day-to-day operations while Sullivan is away.

SOCCER: Tobin Heath and Lindsey Horan scored as the Portland Thorns advanced to the NWSL title game with a 2-1 victory over the Seattle Reign in Portland, Ore. The defending champion Thorns (13-6-6) play the winner of Tuesday’s semifinal between the Chicago Red Stars and the North Carolina Courage for the title Saturday.

ALSO: Lleyton Hewitt helped Australia reduce its deficit against Austria to 2-1 in a Davis Cup World Group playoff in Graz, Austria. Hewitt teamed with John Peers to win in doubles against Oliver Marach and Jurgen Melzer 6-1, 6-4, 3-6, 7-5. Hewitt, who came out of retirement this year to compete on the ATP doubles circuit, had not played in the Davis Cup since 2016. ... Jockey Irad Ortiz Jr. won his 2,000th career race at Belmont Park. The 26-yearold piloted Gambler’s Fallacy to the winner’s circle in the sixth race, a 1 1⁄16- mile allowance on the inner turf. He has 1,910th wins in the continenta­l United States along with 90 in his native Puerto Rico.
