Dorie Greenspan dinner, Jan Brett talk
Oyster Club and Bank Square Books will present a dinner Nov. 18 from 6:30 to 9 p.m. at Oyster Club, 13 Water St., Mystic, with award-winning baker and cookbook author Dorie Greenspan. The event will celebrate the publication of her latest book, “Everyday Dorie: The Way I Cook.”
Greenspan, who has homes in New York City, Paris and Westbrook, is known for her easy-to-follow recipes, many of which are collected in the book and all of which have a surprise technique or unexpected but easily obtainable ingredient. She has been inducted into the James Beard Foundation's Who's Who of Food and Beverage in America and also is the author of “Dorie's Cookies”, a 2017 James Beard Award-winner for Best Baking and Dessert book; “Around My French Table,” “Baking Chez Moi” and “Baking: From My Home to Yours.”
Tickets are $120 plus $8.93 for one person or $203.70 plus $14.03 for two people and include a multicourse dinner, drink pairing and one copy of “Everyday Dorie.”

The group meets on the third Tuesday of most months, and the next session is Nov. 20 at 7 p.m. The library offers free print copies of the magazine, which also is available as an e-magazine. Registration is optional, but ensures members will receive an email notification one week before the date of the next meeting.
Members of the group are urged to arrive on time for the discussions, which typically last for 90 minutes. Covered beverages and quiet snacks may be brought, and participants may also bring something to share.
