Trump, learn from Bush

-

When we hear all the wonderful praise about President George H.W. Bush, we recall how we would expect our world leaders to behave.

My only hope is that President Donald Trump will pay attention to those comments and stop making derogatory comments about his enemies or ex-friends.

We don’t expect the president to behave like a bar-room bully or spoiled brat but do expect that he will behave with dignity and honor. Although I doubt if it will make any difference. Egotists always think they are right.

I would suggest that the GOP dump Trump if he doesn’t alter his behavior. Otherwise, the blue wave will continue into the 2020 elections. The GOP moderates need to take control of the party.

Dan Kreidler, Glastonbury coach Geno Auriemma and associate coach Chris Dailey do. They take good players and create a dynamite team. They are teachers.

Look at Katie Lou Samuelson. In the beginning, she was a great 3-point shooter, but she struggled on defense. It has taken Geno and Chris three years to help her become a great player.

Just because someone is deemed a good player in high school does not mean that she will translate to one in college.

Other great players have not played at UConn. Nneka Ogwumike played for Stanford, and Brittney Griner played for Baylor.

I am not sure if you are just trying to be alarmist or if The Courant does not recognize what teachers do. Rebecca Lobo was not one of the top recruits in the nation, remember? Please stop being so alarming and trying to stoke fear in the hearts of UConn fans.

Geno knows how to turn good players into a great team. He will continue to do so.

Is he the same one both the Washington Post and The New York times failed to endorse in the ’88 and ’92 presidential races?

Is he the same one the Times ridiculed as “out of touch” because he was flummoxed at the workings of the electronic scanner at the supermarket checkout counter?

Is he the one Newsweek called a “wimp?”

Is he the one George Will humiliated for emitting an unpleasant sound “as he traipses from one conservative gathering to another ... a thin, tinny ‘arf ’ — the sound of a lapdog”?

Is he the one Clinton strategist James Carville derided as part of a “sleazy cabal”?

Is it the same person Rep. Maxine Waters, D-Calif., libeled as a “mean-spirited man who has no care or concern about what happens to the African American community in this country”?

The same George H.W. Bush who only got 7 percent of the 1992 vote from Washington, D.C., journalists surveyed?

Amazingly, research reveals that the two are the same. So, why the revisionist history? My word! Could it be that the insincere hosannas for President Bush are only to demean President Donald Trump by comparison?
