Central rolls to 79-58 win

Tyler Kohl scored 21 points with five rebounds and five assists to lead four teammates in double-figure scoring and Central Connecticu­t beat Division II Penn State Wilkes-Barre 79-58 on Saturday at New Britain.

Ian Krishnan hit three 3-pointers and scored 15 points, Joe Hugley added 14 off the bench and Deion Bute had 12 for the Blue Devils (5-5), who shot 38 percent but made 22 of 29 free throws, led by Hugley’s 9 of 10.

Central Connecticu­t leads the Northeast Conference in free-throw shooting at 77.5 percent, and conference leader Hugley entered the game converting 90 percent from the line.

White scored 14 points, Kevin Silverberg added 11 and Jayden Hampton 10 for the Nittany Lions (6-3), who saw their four-game win streak end.

Weselyan 78, Brandeis 67: Jordan Bonner had 22 points and 10 rebounds to lead the Cardinals (5-3) to the road nonconfere­nce win.

Eastern Connecticu­t 77, Plymouth State 62: Jake Collagan had 20 points and Cory Muckle and Carlos Gonzalez 12 each to lead the Warriors (6-2, 3-1) to the Little East win.

Women’s basketball

Trinity 77, Connecticu­t College 66: Pearce Kabari had 19 points and 12 rebounds to lead the Bantams to the NESCAC win in Hartford.

Williams 67, Wesleyan 49: Caleigh Ryan led the Cardinals with 13 points in the NESCAC road loss.

Yale 58, Vermont 55: Roxy Barahman had 21 points and 10 rebounds to lead the Bulldogs to the nonconfere­nce win. Hanna Crymble had 22 points for the Catamounts.

Eastern Connecticu­t 69, Plymouth State 57: Freshman Julia Keckler led the Warriors with 17 points in the Little East road win.

Men hockey

UMass 2, Quinnipiac 1: The No. 8 Bobcats allowed third-period goals to Uvan Chukarov and Jacob Pritchard as the top-ranked Minutemen avenged a Friday loss in Game 2 of the home-and-home series.
