Big comeback for Glastonbur­y

Tomahawks score 20 unanswered in win over Conard

After trailing by 16 at the half, Glastonbur­y scored 20 unanswered points to defeat Conard 27-26 in a CCC interdivis­ion showdown at Glastonbur­y High. The Tomahawk defense held Conard (1-2) to zero passing yards in the second half and 13 total yards in the fourth quarter.

Glastonbur­y quarterbac­k Greg Perry connected with Ryan Smith on a 12-yard pass for the gamewinnin­g touchdown. Perry also had a rushing TD and Brett Nelson had a pick-six for the Tomahawks (2-1). Jack Kennedy tossed two TDs for Conard.

Middletown 3 9, RHAM 0: Chris Danas threw for 231 yards and four touchdowns in Middletown’s CCC Div. II East win at RHAM. Tyron Scharborou­gh hauled in two of Damas’ TD passes with Kenny Fountain and Kristian Glemaud each grabbing one.

Shaun Gaskins also had two rushing TDs for the Blue Dragons (2-1). Jordan Frey rushed for 58 yards on 12 carries for RHAM (0-3).

Simsbury 39, South Windsor 0: Aiden Boeshans accounted for three total touchdowns to lead Simsbury to a CCC interdivis­ion matchup road win at South Windsor. Boeshans ran for 61 yards and a score while throwing for 172 yards and two more TDs, connecting with Zack Gilbert and Mike Schulitz. South Windsor (1-2) recorded just 76 yards of offense.

Old Saybrook/Westbrook 27, HaddamKill­ingworth 6: Jack McDowell and Will Bergeron each scored twice, and Old Saybrook/Westbrook beat Haddam-Killingwor­th in a Pequot Sassacus home game. McDowell had two one-yard TD runs and Bergeron had a 3-yard TD run and hauled in a 23-yard TD pass from Ed Fernandes. Andrew Inkel had the lone H-K (0-3) score. OSW improves to 1-2.

SMSA/University/ Classical 35, Morgan 0: Jordan Rivera aided the victory on both sides of the ball for the SMSA co-op in a Pequot interdivis­ion win at Morgan. Rivera rushed for 93 yards and a touchdown on nine carries, as well as recording 12 tackles, including two for loss. Nate Torres added 12 tackles of his own while forcing a fumble for the Tigers (3-0). Morgan falls to 0-2.

Ellington 14, Gilbert/ Northweste­rn 10: Nate Schneider rushed for 89 yards and a touchdown to lead Ellington to a Pequot Uncas home win over the Gilbert co-op. Zach Killoran also had a rushing TD. Sam Dombek had a sack and fumble recovery and Jeremy Davis had a punt block for the Ellington (2-1) defense.

Late Friday

Maloney 18, North Haven 14: Angel Arce threw three touchdown passes to give Maloney a non-conference home win over North Haven. Arce connected with Cam Moreno twice and Quanell Grimes and finished the game going 12-for-21 for 197 yards with two intercepti­ons.

Max Augustine had two rushing TDs for North Haven (1-2). Maloney remains undefeated at 3-0.

Killingly 14, Berlin 7: Killingly scored twice in the fourth quarter to come back and beat Berlin in a non-conference home game. Justin Skates was 12-for-23 for 139 yards and a touchdown for Berlin (2-1). Jackson Sharpe had 88 yards and a TD on the ground for Killingly (3-0).

Sheehan 50, Brookfield 7: Jordan Davis rushed for 215 yards and five touchdowns and Sheehan rolled past Brookfield in a non-conference road win. Terrence Bogan added 91 yards and a score on the ground and Apollo Dubuc blocked a punt for a safety for the Titans (3-0).

After pulling off a win Friday afternoon, the Hartford Wolf Pack fell 4-2 to the Bridgeport Sound Tigers Saturday in the second game of a back-to-back AHL preseason set.

After going down 1-0 in the first period, the Wolf Pack answered back with a goal in the second from Tim Gettinger and another from Nick Jones in the third. Both came on power plays.

But the Hartford team gave up two goals in 13 seconds when Bridgeport’s Oliver Wahlstrom and David Quennevill­e both scored in the third period.

Adam Huska, the former UConn goalie, started in net for the Wolf Pack and made 18 saves.
