UConn offense stays on roll in win over NH

Hudson Schandor and Jonny Evans each scored two goals and the UConn offense kept rolling in an 8-3 Hockey East Conference win over New Hampshire on Saturday at Durham, N.H.

Thewincompletedasweep of a home-and-home series in which the Huskies totaled 14 goals and reached the .500 mark at 5-5-1 overall and in the league.

Evans opened the scoring at 3:53 of the first period. Brian RigalialsoscoredastheHuskies matched goals from the Wildcats’ Ryan Verrier and Nick Cafarellifora2-2tieafterone.

Wheeler scored second-period goals for UConn before goals by Evans, Schandor, RyanTverbergandJohnSpetz put the game out of reach in the third period.

Tomas Vomacka had 21 saves for the Huskies and Ty Taylor had 23 saves for New Hampshire (3-7-1 and 3-7-1).

Next for UConn is a homeand-home series beginning Friday vs. UMass Lowell.

Hartford70,Maryland-Baltimore County 63: At Baltimore, Austin Williams had 16 points and 13 rebounds to carry the Hawks to the America East Conference win.

Traci Carter had 16 points, six assists and five steals for Hartford (9-5, 6-3 America East). Miroslav Stafl added 14 points and eight rebounds.

Brandon Horvath had 18 points and 11 rebounds for the Retrievers(9-3,5-2).R.J.EytleRock added 13 points. Jacob Boonyasith had 12 points.

Monmouth 70, Quinnipiac 63: At West Long Branch, N.J.,JacobRigonihadagamehigh19pointsandaddedeight rebounds as the Bobcats lost to the Hawks for the second straight day.

Seth Pinkney, Savion Lewis and Luis Kortright each had 10 points for the Bobcats (3-5 overall, 1-3 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference.
