George Edward Alden, III, 77, of Amston, beloved husband of Marilyn (Clifford) Alden, died Wednesday December 30, 2020 at Masonicare Health Center in Wallingfor­d. He was born in New Britain on August 27, 1943. He was oldest of 9 children, to parents George Edward Alden, Jr, and Jane (Cook) Alden. George was a Navy submarine veteran of the Vietnam War. He served as a sonar technician and rose to level Chief Petty Officer.

George met his beloved wife Marilyn when they were both teenagers. Married on November 22, 1963. George is survived by his loving wife Marilyn, his daughter Kimberly Riordan and her husband Francis, his son George Edward Alden IV and his wife Lisa, and daughter Toni D’Addeo and her husband Antonio. He also leaves behind ten grandchild­ren and two adoring great-granddaugh­ters.

George was a great outdoors man! He traveled to Alaska to fish and hike with his brothers Jeff, Chris and sister Jill. He fished, grew an amazing vegetable garden and tended his yard with loving care. He was an avid bird watcher and enjoyed feeding squirrels and frogs from his hands. He was active in state and town politics including leadership in local Tea Party Patriots. A memorial service will be held at a later date when it is safe to gather.
